Daniel Lying

Music Director

dan-lyngDaniel, tenor, is a student at the Eastman School of Music. He is pursuing a Bachelors of Music Degree under the tutelage of Jan Opalach.

Dan is a winner of the Burnt Hills Oratorio Society Vocal Competition and the Saratoga Warren County Music Educators Association Competition. He has performed as a soloist with the Eastman Chorale, NYS Conference All-State and Area All-State mixed choirs, the New York State Summer School of the Arts: School of Choral Studies mixed choir, Shenendehowa Choraliers and Mostly A Capella, and the Capital District Youth Chorale.

Recent roles include Ko-Ko in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado and Frank in Ned Rorem’s Our Town with Eastman Opera Theatre. Most recently, he was asked to originate the role of Tom Wild in Dear Diary as part of Geva Theater’s Festival of New Theater. In addition, Daniel has served as Stage Director and Music Director at Cohoes Music Hall, Saratoga Children’s Theater, and Shenendehowa High School, among others.

Dan has attended the Boston Conservatory Vocal Pedagogy Workshop and NYU Voice Pedagogy Intensive. He plans to pursue his certification in vocology at the National Center for Voice and Speech.

Dan maintains a private voice studio in Clifton Park, NY, and teaches at other institutions including The Hochstein School of Music and Dance and Strike it Up Artistic Center.
