Sewing and Performing:
The Pajama Game
July 17th - 21st
9am - 3pm
Students will design and create pajamas, a pillowcase and more during this weeklong workshop with Sandra Catricala and Caroline Haladjian! They will also work with our theatre counselors on a few musical numbers from the musical The Pajama Game. At the end of the week, there will be a small performance for families of the students, where they will perform songs from the musical while wearing their completed project!!
By the end of camp the student will be able to:
Understand and use a sewing machine
Analyze the personal traits and motivation of their character
Complete a costume rendering
Source materials for their design
Cut, mark, sew, fit and trim design to completion
Learn musical numbers from the show on which this workshop is based
Prepare a collage demonstrating their process and progress
Rehearse songs for performance on last day of camp!
Limited to 10 Students!
Students will be required to provide their own fabric and a box with a lid to keep materials. If they have a sewing machine at home they'd like to learn on, they're welcome to bring it, but it is not required. All other items will be provided. More information on how much fabric to purchase, etc. is forthcoming.
Broadway Dance Intensive
Students will learn the original Broadway choreography from the popular musicals Moulin Rouge (Backstage Romance) and Head Over Heels (We Got the Beat)! This intensive is open to all dance levels! It is a great chance to try out dancing in character shoes for those who already own them.
In this camp, students will:
Learn how to pick up choreography quickly
Improve their dance skills
Work on Broadway choreography
Showcase will be on the final day of the Intensive. Friday, July 28th at 4pm in our Blackbox Theater
